UK victory! Brexit row explodes as EU fuming at Lord Frost at statement ...

Ireland’s deputy premier Leo Varadkar earlier admitted the Northern Ireland border fix is “causing real problems and real disruptions”. To keep the frontier open, the region has essentially remained in the EU’s single market, with checks on goods being shipped from the rest of the UK. Mr Varadkar said the UK request to extend the grace periods should be favourably received” by the EU. And he even hinted that Dublin could break ranks by opening the door to a renegotiation of the controversial protocol, but only if other EU capitals agree. A UK Government spokeswoman said: “Over the coming weeks, we will continue to talk to the EU to see if it is possible to make genuine and substantive progress on the proposals in our Command Paper on the operation of the Northern Ireland Protocol. “In order to provide time and political space for these discussions, and to give business as much trading certainty as possible, we have announced today that we will maintain the existing arrangements for moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, including the current grace periods and easements."
